I'm having difficulties...

with the fact that my son can't talk! Oh my heck it drives me crazy when he just cries and I have no idea what he's crying about. I've been spending more time with him lately trying to teach him words and he tries but he just doesn't know how to say whole words. Will this ever end? He's going to be two in two months!! He does watch sign language videos and has gotten really good at please but I feel the signs only help with some things and not everything.

and Ali on the other hand has two teeth! She is biting me now when she eats so I'm going to try to wean but she really hates formula. Everytime I try to give it to her, which is quite often now, she just gags herself and won't eat it! Anyone have any suggestions on how to get her used to it? I'm thinking I'll start pumping more and get her used to the bottle and then maybe she won't realize as much but we'll see. She's going to be 8 months and I really wanted to breast feed her until she was 9 months since that's how long I did with Ethan but the biting hurts so bad and then she pulls afterwards.....yep it's a killer.

I have taught Jackson some sign language and he does really well with that. It might help Ethan until he learns to communicate better. Don't get too discouraged though because some kids don't talk until there are 3! He will get it! Hang in there!

I wouldn't worry at all with Ethan. If he's having that hard of a time talking.. you could try the signing time videos for sign language to help that i've heard are really good? My sister would rent them from the public library for her kids.
With the whole breastfeeding problem.. I would try pumping.. and mix in an ounce of formula and just keep adding a little more in each bottle. I would think after a while she wouldn't notice that the taste has changed if you do it little by little. I don't know.. just a suggestion that might be worth trying!!

I wouldn't worry about Ethan too much. Boys tend to be slower at things. I would be careful with signing though because my brother and sister and law tried it and slowed the speech even further because my niece could sign instead of talk. Sorry about the biting. I never had to deal with that. My kids never faught formula. Just keep introducing it. Eventually she will get hungry enough and she will eat it.

Ashley, you are such a good mom to be worrying about your little ones. I think Ethan is right on track. Ben was the same way, and I did signs with him too. The most important thing is to keep talking while you use the signs then he will learn the right words to go with it. Ben loved Signing time videos also. When Ben turned 2 he just started talking more and more. It is such a gradual process, so dont worry too much. Ask your doctor what is normal. It is such a wide range. Signing time does a good job teaching the signs. I would start there.

I hear you on the whole talking thing. Conner went through that stage where he would just break down because he was trying so hard to tell us something and we just couldn't figure it out. Sign lauguage though, that's really cool, and you are such a trooper to nurse for 9 months. With Conner I nursed him for 6 months, but I am planning on nursing Jace longer. I don't really like the whole formula thing. We'll see though I might just change my mind. : )
